At the day job we’ve just launched a little side-project. Stay Together is a Facebook application that mashes up the existing Events data with Google Maps and our own worldwide hotels database, to let you find and book accommodation near where your event is taking place.

The killer aspect of the app is that it also lets you see where your friends that are attending the event are staying (assuming they have added the app to their Facebook account)—so, for that wedding or conference, you can make sure that you book the hotel where all the cool kids are staying.

Apart from weddings and stag parties, I can see this being really useful for conference junkies—our hotel coverage is great in the UK and Europe (not so much in the US at the moment), so being able to use existing social networks to arrange accommodation could prove a handy little addition to online life.
